Polaris Industries Inc. (NYSE: PII) today announced additional details for its manufacturing facility in Opole, Poland during an event with local officials.  Now that the location has been finalized and local authorities have granted the Company its operating permit, the facility is expected to break ground during the third quarter of this year.

“A cornerstone of Polaris’ long-term growth strategy is to continue growing globally. Operating manufacturing facilities local to these international markets is an integral component to driving global market leadership,” said Scott Wine, Chairman and CEO. “Our new facility in Poland will fill this role, providing much-needed off-road vehicle capacity to serve our European markets with locally manufactured products.”

The facility will be a new structure built on a greenfield site designed specifically to the Company’s needs. It will be built within the Walbrzych Special Economic Zone in Opole, Poland, an area dedicated to encouraging business growth in the region.

Polaris has previously invested in new facilities to develop and build products in markets with growing consumer demand. In 2010, the Company opened a facility in Monterrey, Mexico as demand for Polaris products rose in the southern United States and Latin America. Among other financial and logistical benefits, these investments improve lead time responsiveness, provide the ability to tailor products to local needs and maximize operational efficiencies.

The new facility is scheduled to begin off-road vehicle production in the fall of 2014 and is projected to employ at least 350 skilled workers.
