Galeria Północna, one of Globe Trade Centre’s S.A. (GTC) key retail projects, took an important step forward with the laying of the cornerstone. Representatives of GTC, Warsaw and Białołeka district authorities and partner companies attended the ceremony.

The foundation act of Galeria Północna was signed by Thomas Kurzmann on behalf of GTC, a representative of the architects that designed Galeria Północna – APA Wojciechowski and Tzur Architects, the representative of Unibep S. A., the general contractor, Hill International, project manager, as well as the representatives of the City of Warsaw and Białołęka authorities. Laying of Galeria Północna’s cornerstone opens a new chapter in GTC’s history and marks its growth acceleration.

“We are delighted to celebrate the commencement of Galeria Północna development, where pre-liminary construction works are already underway at full speed. We are certain that our project will contribute to Warsaw’s retail market and will meet the expectations of the inhabitants of Białołęka and the neighboring districts. Galeria Północna will be the first major modern shopping and entertainment centre located in the North-Eastern part of Warsaw. We would like to thank all the residents of Białołęka for their patience and support” – said Thomas Kurzmann, GTC Chief Operating Officer.

The City of Warsaw and Białołęka district authorities have continually backed Galeria Północna. Białołęka’s authorities and GTC shared the needs of Białołęka’s residents and the neighborhood infrastructure investments and mutually endeavored to deliver such a prominent project.

“Our district’s residents have been waiting for a modern, functional and architecturally attractive shopping and entertainment centre for quite some time. We keep our fingers crossed that in two years, all Białołęka residents will be able to do their shopping as well as enjoy a multi-screen cinema and relax in publicly accessible rooftop garden in a modern shopping mall located in the heart of our district. Additionally, what we also find crucial, Galeria Północna opening will create new jobs for Bałołęka’s residents” – said Piotr Jaworski, Mayor of Warsaw’s Białołęka district.

Galeria Północna has already attracted renowned tenants, including Cinema City, LPP Group, Carrefour, H&M, and many more. Designed by the renowned APA Wojciechowski and Tzur Architects studios, the project will offer approximately 64,000 sq m of leasable space, while the customers will be provided with ca. 2,000 parking spaces. Galeria Północna will feature numerous leisure solutions, including a publicly accessible rooftop garden, walking paths and a playground. In order to confirm Galeria Północna’s status as one of the greenest buildings in its class in Poland, GTC plans to obtain LEED Gold certification for the investment. The opening is planned for Q2 2017.
