A group of foreign journalists from several business publications – from the logistics, automotive and real estate sector – have accepted an invitation by Gliwice Mayor to visit the southern Polish city.

With direct meetings and conversations with representatives of the government, investors and large consulting companies among others, the journalists left the city with a rich knowledge of its condition, plans and potential.

The purpose of the visit of the 14 journalists from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and the UK, was to familiarize themselves in a direct way with the business and investment profile of Gliwice in the run-up to the international investment fairs: Expo Real in Munich and Mapic in Cannes.

- Therefore, we prepared a program consisting of two blocks. First, there was a thorough briefing on the city's economy. Second, the number of visits and meetings with major investors from the Gliwice Subzone of the Katowice Special Economic Zone and innovative companies that arose and developed on a local basis. An added attraction was a bit of history in the form of guided walking tour - said Katarzyna Kobierska, Director of City Development Bureau in Gliwice.

Journalists – representing "Property Week Global", "Property Investor Europe", "Financial Times", "Automotive Logistics Business", "Wiener Zeitung" and "La Croix" among others – visited the Silesian Logistic Center, the General Motors Manufacturing Poland and AIUT factories, the warehouse facilities of Segro Business Park Gliwice and Müller - Die lila Logistik. The program also included a meeting with innovative companies FlyTronic and i3D (together with Gliwice Technopark, the latter exhibited at the Science and Industry Days), as well as a visit to the intersection between the A1 and A4 motorways, where one of the continent's largest shopping malls – Europa Centralna (by Helical Poland), is being constructed.

- Nowadays, it's hard to ignore the important role of the media in the process of transferring information and shaping opinion. That is why we decided to organize the project referred to as International Business Press Tour Gliwice. We wanted to show the great advantages and the potential of the city, and inspire our guests, while highlighting Gliwice's presence on the Polish and European maps. My conversations with journalists indicate that our goal has been reached- said Adam Neumann, the Deputy Mayor of Gliwice.

The journalists' visit was part of the "Promotion of Investment of Gliwice 2012/2013" project, which was co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund and the Regional Operational Programme for the Silesian Voivodship from 2007 to 2013.

The partners of the visit were: Colliers International, Grant Thornton Frąckowiak, the Katowice Special Economic Zone, the Silesian Logistic Center, Segro, Helical Poland, General Motors Manufacturing Poland, AIUT, Müller - Die lila Logistik Poland, as well as Technopark and the Local Development Agency in Gliwice.
